THE EQUALS - Police On My Back / You Got Too Many Boyfriends 7"

'Police On My Back' is probably one of the best THE EQUALS songs. THE REAL 60s GARAGE PUNK KILLER! Everything is GREAT in this song - from POLICE CAR sounds, WILD guitars and rhythm, REBEL vocal and PUNK lyrics! Well, THE CLASH covered it on 'Sandinista', but I'm sure you will agree with me that original sounds better. What we have here is DUTCH 60s SINGLE in MEGA RARE PICTURE SLEEVE variation!!! Usually Dutch picture sleeve has the same groupic EQUALS photo with blue/yellow chess-squares (9 squares on the whole sleeve). But here we have different art design. It's not factory printing mistake, as there are the whole bunch of other Dutch picture sleeves from different artists with the same design, green/blue/green squares on the top and black/white photo below. For example the same art design have Tom Jones, Truly Smith, Crispian St. Peters, Bonny St. Claire, etc. But somehow THE EQUALS green-blue-green picture sleeve is extremely rare and almost impossible to find! So, for the collectors, this is definitely one of the holy grails!

BRINKER - I Finally Realize / Sweet Darling 7"

Dutch 1977 MOD SOUL BEAT POWERPOP. Brilliant Dutch Beatles-que sounding band with SOUL grooves! Unfortunately BRINKER didn't last long. They realised 2 great singles in 1977. 'I Finally Realize' is their 1st one. A-side is SOUL-ish MOD BEAT POWERPOP song, with different, more funky approach from their late 70s British MOD colleagues. Well, Paul Weller will do some similar things with The Jam, but 5-6 years later on 'Beat Surrender' EP. 'Sweet Darling' is Beatlesque MOD BEAT POWERPOP, also great song. I will also recommend the 2nd BRINKER's single. I guess BRINKER were a bit out of their time, not angry and wild, too melodic, but not poppy enough for teens.

SUPER ANGEL - Welcome To My Rock'n Roll / Ride On, My Silvermachine 7"

SUPER ANGEL were pure late 70s ROCK'N'ROLL band - somewhere between GLAM ROCK, HARD ROCK and PUNK. Something like male THE RUNAWAYS. HEAVY, catchy and a bit kitchy ROCK'N'ROLL songs with loud guitars, punky vocal and real great guitar riffs! 'Welcome To My Rock'n Roll' is their 1st single from 1979. REAL HEAVY GLAM ROCK KILLER!!! Both sides are top! By the way --- also SUPER ANGEL's 2nd single and 1st album (www.youtube.com/watch?v=dBckgWBe8pw) from 1982 are recommended!

Dutch 1972 GLAM ROCK PSYCHEDELIC POWERPOP PROTO PUNK. Well, it's not raw, fuzzed and wild, but more melancholic, and in VELVET UNDERGROUND/BIG STAR/FLAMIN' GROOVIES style. SHARATON were from Amsterdam. Later some members will form PARKLANE (not unknown to GLAM ROCK PUNK collectors). SAHRATON released 3 singles. This their 1st. KILLER 45!!! Unfortunately still musically misunderstood and underrated Dutch early 70s band.

UK 1971 GLAM ROCK FUZZ PROTO PUNK. KILLER 45!!! 'Sing' starts with loud FUZZ intro, but when you expect BLACK SABBATH clone, you get GLAM ROCK CRUNCHER! Pity that loud FUZZ is a bit muted, but RANSOME HEAD rocks very well! This is very rare Dutch 45 in art sleeve.

FUTURE - Isabelle / Pubertat 7"

FUTURE are one more THE TEENS style German 80s GLAM ROCK PUNK 'N ROLL KIDS band. Their 1st and only 45, released in 1986. Both songs sung in German. Obviously some of the producers thought that there are some teenagers still into rock'n'roll, well, NENA was still popular, but I think most of the kids were into Italo disco, breakdance or 80s synth-pop. Single didn't sell good, far from THE TEENS late 70s/early 80s records. So FUTURE are probably the last German Teenage GLAM PUNK attraction!

FONTESSA - A Look In Your Eyes / Where Have You Been 7"

Dutch 1975 GLAM ROCK. Loads of GLITTER COSMIC FX and spices!!! 'A Look In Your Eyes' 45 (their 1st and only known single) from 1975 sounds like DAVID BOWIE doing POWERPOP, or THE SWEET going into ART ROCK. FONTESSA was band founded by Frank van der Kloot (ex DRAMA guitarist). They also released 2 title-less albums during 70s. 1973 album is more blues prog rock, while 1978 album is hard rock/prog rock. Anyway, 'A Look In Your Eyes' 45 includes 2 non-album track with different sound than music on FONTESSA'a LPs. 45 was kinda market testing single, but sold very very poor and it's extremely rare today! Obviously FONTESSA's GLAM ART ROCK was not interesting enough for prog-freaks, nor glamorous enough for 70s GLAM-kids :)

TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS - Sha La La La Lee / Teenage Baby 7"

French 1977 GLAM ROCK HARD ROCK. Also PUNK/PROTO PUNK. SMALL FACES 'Sha La La La Lee' cover. Well TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS were not unknown in France. They released 3 LPs and bunch of 45s, but somehow become totally underrated and forgotten by many GLAM ROCK/PROTO PUNK/KBD PUNK collectors nowadays. I can't explain why and how, but this 45 and 1st LP are almost impossible to sell, although you can not easy find their records in crates, even in France. And TRANS EUROPE EXPRESS are really great band! Maybe their name sounds kinda electronic and reminds of Kraftwerk, so electro and punk is maybe still a big taboo :)

US/Australian 1973 GLAM ROCK. Band was formed by Michael Lloyd (from The West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band). Michael was producer in early 70s, most known from his work done on early THE OSMONDS records. The other two guys were Australians. FRIENDS made 1 LP, all songs were written by band members, only 'Gonna Have A Good Time' was THE EASYBEATS cover, written by Vanda-Young duo of course. 'Gonna Have A Good Time' was also single from this LP. KILLER 1973 GLAM ROCK!!! Here we have rare Belgian picture sleeve!

Dutch 1980 COSMIC ACID PSYCHEDELIC FUNK. GROOVY multiracial FUNK FREAKS mixed a little bit of everything in their own style, a bit of PSYCHEDELIA, ACID ART ROCK and FUNK with COSMIC spices. GROOVY result is GREAT! Production could be better, but hey if it was released of proper label than that schlager label Schell, maybe NIGHTBIRD could be more know Dutch groovy attraction. Pure single group as their album from 1975 contains 4 singles (A+B sides) and 4 album (non-single) tracks. Anyway, 'Jackie Gass' 45 is single only and probably with 'Mary Lou' their best 45. Catchy ROCK'N'ROLL as all YOKOHAMA GINBAE songs with loud PUNK guitar sound, sometimes a bit more ROCKABILLY, sometimes a bit more BEAT POWERPOP, but always in leather jackets! CLAIRE joined them in 1972 and they become huge Dutch 70s GLAM ROCK attraction. Band stopped in 1976, when BONNY went solo. To You/Take A Heart 45 is one of the most rare UNIT GLORIA records. MAC KISSOON BAND - Friday Night / We've Come To The End Of The Road 7"

UK 1978 DISCO FUNK. 'Friday Night' is far from other sweet soul ballad 45s that MAC KISSOON released with or without his sister Katie in 70s and early 80s. 'Friday Night' is GROOVY AS HELL!!! The single was released in UK on Psycho label and here we have Belgian release in nice picture sleeve! Record didn't sell well, probably MAC's fans were surprised with raw sound, so 45 remained a bit forgotten and unknown to many DJs who probably classified MAC KISSOON as sweet soul singer. But 'Friday Night' is groovy dancefloor filler somewhere between DISCO and FUNK. Check it out!

Belgian 1992 INDIE POP POWERPOP single by THE BEAUTIFUL BABIES. It's their 2nd single, later with 1st single included on 5 track CD EP. Very catchy INDIE POP POWERPOP with some 60s GARAGE ROCK spices. After small succes in Belgium, THE BEAUTIFUL BABIES were signed for EMI, releasing an album CD with bunch of CD-singles, had gigs in Amsterdam and London, but their melodic INDIE POP was out of fashion in early 90s, ruled by loud GRUNGE and FUNK METAL bands.

Unfortunately AMPHORA's 1st and only 45 wasn't released before 1975, when some members already left the band.
